Ta Take

It was a normal Saturday morning, I had been surprised by a post on Facebook, an acquaintance from Tokyo had been in town. This was Okinawa, Japan. They were a happy couple, and i had been happy with my bottle of whiskey and a mini keg of a belly. I was once passionate about how my body had looked, then one day I up and decided there were more important things. I had probably started drinking around 7 a.m. that day, a usual occurrence when there was no work to do. My girlfriend had to work that day. This was upsetting I remember because the weekend was typically spent with her and long mornings in bed.

As soon as I discovered they were in town I got in contact to try and give them a wholesome experience rather than just the typical tourist trap. The first idea to pop in my head was a place i frequented quite a bit. It was a 3 mile stream that took you to an 80 foot waterfall and a rope swing. Now the hike there required water shoes and a couple of brews. What i think i liked most about it is that there was not any freaky shit in the water, no snakes or fish or scaly creatures there to terrify me. The whole mood remained super light. Of course on your way through it was inevitable that you take a tumble or two on the algae covered rocks due to lack of hand eye coordination. The whole walk there would take you about 45 minutes to an hour. Also I should mention that the weather whenever i went here was always perfect. You had a dense jungle coverage from the trees, but it was never too windy, too hot, or humid. And humidity was something Oki was never short of.

After we reached the falls of course we did the typical pictures in on and around the falling water, but afterwards follows the real fun, drowning yourself under the water. The rope swing is never satisfying so i`m not sure why i even mention it ever, it only swings you 3 feet in the air into 3 feet of water. Maybe it`d be more enjoyable if i was a midget. Once an hour went by we decided to head out and go get some food. I quickly googled Okinawan food to try and surprise them with some whole in the wall place and act like i was a regular, super cool i know. Turns out the one i picked out was in fact a nice whole in the wall and really cheap and good culture. The food was interesting, most of it i have never tried yet even though i was already living there for over a year. Most of it i could not pronounce, but the flavor was interesting not to mention the texture. After we wrapped up out 10 dollar meal i needed to proceed getting drunk back near home (it was about an hour north of where i live). So we said our farewells and we dropped them back off at their hotel.

It was a good day, one of the view that i`d remember forever. And out of it i got another good connection over in Europe that i plan on using this January when i take my trip.
